Metadata for documents used in the study of art history

Art history lives at the intersection of images and documents — and the commission registers of Alinari, Florence's legendary historic photography firm, are a prime example. By transcribing these handwritten records with Transkribus and generating structured metadata, this project directly links historical commissioning data to the current numbering of thousands of archival photographic negatives.
