HTR Models for Classical Nahuatl
Three new HTR models bring Classical Nahuatl — a colonial-era Indigenous language written in the Latin alphabet — into the digital age. Addressing the unique challenges of these 16th- and 17th-century Mexican manuscripts, from their physical condition to linguistic complexity, this project demonstrates that even historically marginalised, low-resource languages can be meaningfully included in the HTR ecosystem.
