Transcription, discovery and annotation: Transkribus, NEL and RAG working together

When you transcribe a document, you can finally access its content. But when you transcribe thousands of books and you have limited context? This is what we are trying to achieve at Bibliotheca Hertziana — Max Planck Institute for Art History, where we are trying to give a whole new meaning to a digital library of transcribed books by adding NEL that can help us connect the content entities on a map, with the support of Wikidata. Annotation can be done "quick and dirty", but when all the content is also indexed in a ginormous RAG that can be queried, the possibilities for automatic annotation increase.
