Opening access to historical texts in the Diocese of Passau with the help of Transkribus

When you can't read Fraktur, an entire century of institutional history is locked away. The Diocese of Passau used Transkribus to digitise and transcribe its official gazette and Sunday newspaper, making 150 years of records fully searchable for staff — and laying the groundwork for the next archival project: the Altöttinger Liebfrauenbote, published since 1895.
