Transkribus as a tool to improve discernment

Can transcribing handwritten journals teach teenagers to think critically about AI? In France, a youth project has done exactly that — walking intergenerational groups through every step of the HTR process, from scanning to model training, so they can see exactly what happens between a prompt and a result. The experience builds historical literacy, creative confidence, and — most importantly — the discernment to question what machines tell them.
