Sustainable Editorial Workflow Automation for Digital Scholarly Editions

Digital scholarly editions share the same core steps — digitisation, OCR, validation, transformation, publication, archiving — yet most projects reinvent the wheel every time. This hands-on workshop introduces a modular, semi-automated editorial workflow that connects existing tools (TEI transformation, Git-based version control, publication platforms, long-term archiving) through a lightweight Python orchestration layer. Participants get practical experience with the system and explore how institutions can adapt it to their own needs — reducing duplicated effort, increasing transparency, and building editions that outlast individual projects.
