The scholar is a Full Professor at the University of São Paulo (USP), where he earned his direct doctorate (Ph.D.) in Philology and Portuguese Language and his Habilitation (Livre-Docência) in Phonetics and Phonology, following a Bachelor's degree in Portuguese/French and a specialization in Linguistics from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT). With extensive international training and post-doctoral fellowships completed at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and the Universität Augsburg, he participates in major research projects and networks in dialectology and textual criticism in partnership with institutions in Germany, Spain, and Argentina. A CNPq Research Productivity Fellow since 2011, his work focuses on teaching, research, outreach, and academic advising in fields such as Historical Linguistics, Philology, Sociolinguistics, Dialectology, and Portuguese Language and Literature.
