Notarial archives from Tilburg — full of wills, contracts, and inventories written in clients' homes — are a layout labyrinth of crossed-out text, marginalia, and interlinear additions. This talk shares Regionaal Archief Tilburg's multi-year journey to help Transkribus distinguish margins from main text, and the practical lessons learned from trying (and sometimes failing) to tame these uniquely chaotic historical documents.
