Unlocking Colonial Voices: Transkribus and the Study of New Kingdom of Granada colonial documents (16th–18th Centuries)
A 2023 Transkribus scholarship, a Colombian history student, and 152,000 colonial documents waiting to be read. What began as self-teaching 18th-century Spanish paleography has grown into a university research group working to decode the New Kingdom of Granada colonial visits — one of Latin America's richest and least accessible archival collections — and a published methodology for others to follow.
