TUC 2026
Venue & Travel
Join us at the University of Passau, Germany. Everything you need to know about the venue and getting there.
A note on travel & booking scams
Some speakers and attendees have received emails from a third-party “travel agency” offering to arrange their hotel in Passau. These are not from us. We have not appointed any agency to handle your travel or accommodation, and we will never email you asking for payment or card details for a hotel booking.
A typical scam email mentions the conference dates and the University of Passau, asks you to confirm your arrival and departure dates, promises “flexible” free cancellation, and says a “charges statement” or itinerary will follow. Do not reply, share your dates, or provide any payment details — replying is what the sender is after.
Book travel and accommodation only through the links on this page and the official providers they point to. The only address we use to contact you is tuc@transkribus.org. If you receive a suspicious message, please don’t click or pay — forward it to us and we’ll confirm whether it is genuine.

Important Train Travel Update for September
If you are planning to travel by train, please note that major track maintenance is scheduled between Munich and Passau this September. Rail replacement buses (Schienenersatzverkehr) will be operating on this section, which will increase travel times.
Alternative route (e.g., from the Netherlands/Western Europe): To avoid the construction delays around Munich, consider traveling via Austria. For example, guests coming from the Netherlands or Western Germany can take the Nightjet (night train) directly to Linz. From Linz, you can catch a direct, regional connection straight into Passau without any extra transfers.
