The Experience of Three Italian Early Modern Inventories

From 15–20% CER with generic models to around 2% with custom-trained ones — three manuscript inventories from the Novara State Archives tell a clear story about the value of specialisation. This poster walks through the full workflow applied to two family fonds and one administrative inventory: palaeographic analysis, targeted model training, segmentation strategies adapted to each document's structure, and integration of HTR output into a public digital edition. A transferable case study for anyone working with early modern Italian archival material.
