Annemieke is an early modern political-institutional historian who has held research and teaching posts at institutions throughout the Netherlands and Belgium and is an associate researcher at the University of Bern. She holds a PhD in history, and has academic interests in both education and digital humanities.
Annemieke has been an honorary board member at READ-COOP since 2023, and was elected Chair of the Board in 2025. As the co-operative's community director, she plays a pivotal role in supporting Transkribus users and building strong partnerships.
